GED

GED Plus - Division of The New York City Department of Education

GED Plus is a citywide program that provides full time GED services, with additional support in transitioning to a college and/or career at no cost to students in New York City who are between 18-21 years of age. Students who are 17 may enroll, but admission is at the discretion GED Plus staff.

Participants reading between the 8th and 12th grade level are placed in our GED class. All participants placed in the GED class must apply to our YouthBuild Program. Participants will alternate weeks in the GED classroom, and the YouthBuild construction site.

In our GED classroom participants will receive classroom instruction that will prepare them for the GED exam. Students are given a GED pre-test monthly. The pre-test will determine if the student will sit for the GED exam.

Although the program is scheduled to last 10 months, participants may (and have) completed the GED portion of the program in less than the allocated time.
