About Us

The DREAMS YouthBuild & Young Adult Training Program offers GED and Pre-GED classes to young adults ages 17 thru 24. We assist participants with obtaining their GED and full-time employment. In our program young adults learn sufficient skills to compete in today’s job market.

Since February 2007, DREAMS has had groundbreaking success. Our classes have now doubled in size, we currently have over 50 students participating our program. In just two years, 41 students have obtained GED's, 13 are in successful employment, and five are in post secondary educational environments.

In addition to helping our students obtain their GED, we focus on Life Skills, and Job Readiness. Additional opportunities at DREAMS include our YouthBuild Program; which offers training in Construction and Building Maintenance.

College Enrollment
After completing the program, our Job Developer assist participants in finding full-time work. Participants however are encouraged to enroll in college. The DREAMS Program makes sure that all members are exposed to the material necessary for their future educational success.

Settlement Housing Fund, Inc. – Our Parent Company

Founded in 1969, Settlement Housing Fund, Inc. is a nonprofit housing organization.

Settlement Housing Fund’s mission is to develop ethnically and economically diverse affordable housing in New York City. As well as to maintain the housing, while creating a wide array of programs and amenities for its residents and surrounding communities. As a result, Settlement Housing Fund provides opportunities for upward mobility for homeless and low/moderate income families. Settlement Housing Fund has developed over 55 projects containing approximately 8,600 apartments that house over 25,000 New York City residents. Included in that total are rental cooperative units, condominiums, and two-family owner occupied homes. Through their affiliates and joint ventures, Settlement Housing Fund currently owns 44 buildings which amount to a total 2,210 apartments. Keeping with their mission of providing mixed income housing; our tenants range from families on public assistance who were formerly homeless, to those earning just over $100,000 a year.

In addition to developing and managing its own buildings and social programs, Settlement Housing Fund provides technical assistance and support to other housing organizations in New York City and advocates on behalf of affordable housing with government and private sector officials.
